Our Location in Mapledurham Village: Mapledurham House is a beautiful Elizabethan privately owned stately home located on the banks of the Thames with its very own working water mill. The house and surrounding village have been used for filming such as the 1976 The Eagle Has Landed and also for several television series, including Midsomer Murders.
It is also reputed to have been the inspiration for E. H. Shepard’s illustrations of Toad Hall for Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows, although this is also claimed by several other beautiful local country houses! Poop-Poop!
